Levy Ratner is a group of seasoned and diverse professionals. The firm has 25 lawyers actively engaged in its practice -- thirteen (13) partners, ten (10) associates, and two (2) of counsels -- and a dedicated support staff. Our accomplished attorneys have national reputations in the field of labor and employment law and extensive expertise handling complex, precedent-setting cases. Levy Ratner attorneys have taught in law schools and colleges, lectured at events sponsored by various bar associations, the AFL-CIO’s Lawyers Coordinating Committee, and other organizations, and written extensively on significant legal issues. Our attorneys come from varied backgrounds: some served as law clerks for federal judges, others have experience in government and public service, still others came to the firm after careers in union, political or community organizing.
Our attorneys have represented major international and local unions, and currently serve as general counsel to the largest and fastest-growing local health care union in the country, with more than 250,000 members across New York State, New Jersey, Massachusetts and the Maryland/Washington D.C. area. The firm’s union clients represent workers in a variety of other industries including academia, utilities, textiles, cultural institutions, typography, brewery, and postal service. The firm also provides legal counsel and representation to multi-billion dollar employee benefit funds and community and political organizations. In addition to our institutional clients, the firm has handled cases on behalf of individuals and groups of employees, and has won victories and significant settlements in major class action civil rights cases and lawsuits to restore pension fund assets to members. We have worked as cooperating attorneys with the Center for Constitutional Rights and the New York Civil Liberties Union to fight discrimination and other abuses through impact litigation.
