Labor
The firm provides comprehensive representation and counsel to labor organizations, union leaders and workers under the NLRA, the LMRDA and all other federal, state and local statutes governing union activities. The firm’s representation includes creative and strategic support to union organizing drives, contract campaigns, and other union efforts. We are experienced contract negotiators and have successfully negotiated hundreds of major collective bargaining agreements, some covering tens of thousands of workers. Our attorneys are skilled advocates in arbitrations, administrative agency proceedings, and labor-related litigation. Additionally, we are well versed in internal union affairs, including reporting and record keeping requirements, and have represented unions, candidates and election boards in the context of significant and contested internal union elections.

Employee Rights Litigation
The firm represents employees, individually and in class actions, in litigation to protect and preserve employee rights. Our attorneys have experience litigating cases under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the WARN Act, and other federal, state and local employment and civil rights statutes. The firm also counsels employees regarding employment contracts and separation agreements.

Employee Benefits
As counsel to many multi-employer (Taft-Hartley) benefit funds -- both large and small, in a wide-range of industries -- the firm provides advice and counsel to fund trustees and administrators on a variety of legal issues. Our attorneys have developed a broad-based knowledge of the laws applicable to employee benefit funds, including both technical statutory requirements, plan administration, fiduciary responsibility, and contribution and withdrawal liability collection. We have extensive experience litigating benefit fund issues in arbitrations, administrative agency proceedings, bankruptcy actions, and federal court. The firm has represented employee benefit funds and their trustees and administrators in DOL and IRS proceedings, including proceedings to obtain approvals in connection with the creation of new funds, fund mergers and “spin offs”, to ensure the payment of pension benefits by the PBGC, and to respond to audits by the DOL Employee Benefit Security Administration.

Our attorneys have extensive experience with compliance work and litigation involving ballot access, campaign finance, and lobbying regulation, and have structured and provided counsel on numerous independent expenditures, political action committees, member-to-member voter contact programs, and candidate campaigns.
Bankruptcy
The firm represents unions, multi-employer benefit funds, individual employees, and retirees who are creditors and parties-in-interest in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 cases across numerous industries. We assist our clients through all aspects of each case: participating in unsecured creditors committees, defending their rights in 1113 and 1114 litigation, pursuing arbitration cases, and bringing claims, both secured and unsecured, including those arising under the federal and state WARN Acts.
